Bringing joy, one bunny at a time!
We started this blog as a way to share our knowledge and experience with others who share our love of these adorable and intelligent creatures.
Our family includes a married couple, three young boys, and a whole bunch of rabbits. Our rabbitry is located in the beautiful rolling hills of rural America, where our rabbits have access to fresh air and plenty of grass to graze on. We are dedicated to breeding and raising high quality rabbits for show, meat, and pet purposes. All of our rabbits are healthy and well-cared for, and we are happy to help you choose the right rabbit for your needs.
Our mission at Pinewood Rabbitry is to provide the best possible care for rabbits and to help others do the same. We are dedicated to promoting the welfare of rabbits and increasing awareness about these intelligent and loving creatures. We believe that every rabbit deserves to live a happy and healthy life, and we strive to provide the resources and support needed to make that a reality. Through our rabbitry and educational materials, we aim to make a positive impact on the lives of rabbits and the people who love them
Did you know that a group of rabbits is called a “colony” or a “nest?” Or that a rabbit’s teeth never stop growing, which is why they need to chew on things to keep their teeth trimmed? And have you ever noticed that a rabbit’s ears can be as long as their body? These long ears not only make rabbits cute and adorable, but they also help them to hear predators coming from any distance.
In fact, a rabbit’s vision is 360 degrees, allowing them to see all around them at all times. And when it comes to running away from danger, a rabbit can really hop to it – they can jump up to three times their own body length and run up to 45 mph in short bursts! When it comes to diet, rabbits need plenty of hay to keep their teeth healthy and their digestive system functioning properly. And with proper care, a rabbit can live for up to 12 years. So the next time you see a rabbit, be sure to give them a good petting – their sense of smell is very keen, and they can even recognize their owner’s scent from a distance.
Did you know that rabbits have a unique way of communicating with each other? They use a variety of body language and vocalizations to express themselves, including thumping their hind legs, grunting, purring, and even screaming if they feel threatened. Speaking of threats, rabbits have a few natural predators to watch out for, including foxes, hawks, and snakes. But they have a few tricks up their sleeves to help protect themselves – in addition to their quick speed and agility, rabbits also have the ability to blend in with their surroundings thanks to their coloring, which can help them avoid being seen by predators.
Another interesting fact about rabbits is that they are social animals and can even form strong bonds with other animals, including dogs and cats. And while they are known for their cute and cuddly appearance, rabbits can also be quite playful and mischievous, which can make them a lot of fun to have around. So the next time you see a rabbit, be sure to give them a little extra love – they just might surprise you with their intelligence and personality.
